1. Agreement
This Customer Agreement applies when you create a customer account, submit a project request, contact a professional, or hire a professional through information obtained from Hire Local Expert. It supplements the Terms of Use.
2. Marketplace role
You understand that Hire Local Expert does not perform services and is not a party to your contract with a professional. The professional, not Hire Local Expert, is responsible for estimates, scheduling, labor, materials, permits, safety, workmanship, warranties, billing, refunds, and project completion.
3. Accurate project information
You agree to provide accurate descriptions, locations, photographs, timing, and contact information and to promptly correct material errors. You must have authority to request work at the property and permission to submit any content.
4. Independent verification
Before hiring, you are responsible for verifying identity, business information, licenses, insurance, references, permits, and experience. You should confirm license status with the responsible government agency and insurance directly with the insurer.
5. Written project agreement
You should obtain a written agreement covering scope, price, deposits, payment schedule, materials, start and completion dates, change orders, cleanup, permits, warranties, cancellation rights, and dispute procedures. Platform messages are not a substitute for a complete written contract.
6. Payments
Unless expressly stated otherwise, you pay professionals directly. Hire Local Expert does not hold deposits, guarantee refunds, or resolve charge, billing, or payment disputes.
7. Property access and safety
You are responsible for lawful and reasonably safe access to the work area, disclosure of known hazards, control of pets, protection of valuables, and compliance with building or property rules.
8. Conduct
You agree to communicate honestly and respectfully and not to discriminate unlawfully, harass, threaten, solicit illegal services, submit fake requests, or misuse professional contact information.
9. Reviews
Reviews must reflect genuine firsthand experience and comply with the Terms of Use. You remain responsible for statements you publish.
10. Disputes
Disputes regarding services, deposits, quality, delays, damage, warranties, or payments are between you and the professional. We may receive reports or take account action but are not obligated to mediate or decide the dispute.
11. Assumption of risk
You assume the risks associated with inviting or hiring an independent professional and agree that the warranty disclaimers, liability limitations, and indemnification provisions in the Terms of Use apply.
